My Research

The Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology has required that I am active in psychological research. A research project I have completed looks at how men have overcome the perceived barrier masculinity can be to accessing psychological therapy. I am therefore very aware of some of the thought processes that occur for both men and women who are reluctant to enter into therapy.

I am currently undertaking doctoral research focusing on social class differences in the therapy room and the way in which they can impact on the therapeutic relationship. I am very interested in issues of social justice, intersectional feminism and the forces of oppression and privilege that operate in our every day lives and the way that these things can come into the therapy itself.
